Balqiis is a non-partisan, independent think-and-do tank headquartered in Mogadishu, Somalia, with a presence across the Horn of Africa. We work at the intersection of research, policy, and practice, combining analytical rigour with on-the-ground engagement to drive meaningful change in a region we are part of, not just present in.
We are driven by the belief that lasting peace and security cannot be achieved without addressing the structural drivers of insecurity and injustice, including weak governance, political exclusion, human rights deficits, and the growing threat of climate stress. And we are driven by the conviction that the institutions best placed to do that work are the ones free to follow the evidence wherever it leads.
